"Dennis Yesterday and Today"

I shot and edited this video of legendary San Jose DJ, Dennis Erectus.  It was made to aid in fundraising efforts for Dennis' medical expenses incurred after he suffered a heart attack in 2006.  My brother Steve (Who works at KBAY with a number of KOME alums) asked me to help him out on this project, and I was happy to. This was edited using iMovie and Garageband (for music).  For a low-level editing software program, I think Apple has loaded a number of really great features into iMovie that allow folks (like me!) to give video projects a more professional feel.  Jona Denz-Hamilton supplied me with photographs and an aircheck of Dennis' days at KOME. So without all the archival stuff, the project would have really suffered from lack of content.

This video was shown at a career day fair to demonstrate to middle school students the job of a radio announcer.  The raw footage was shot by an non-professional camera operator, so, as the editor, I had to "sex it up" to give it a more energetic flow and professional gloss while maintaining the narrative intent of segment.

Helping Your Hometown!
These one minute spots were created to spotlight local non-profit organizations where KKIQ broadcasts. The spots can be described as "inspirational" in tone, but they have helped these organizations become more visible in the communities they serve. And when these spots run, many of these non-profits have experienced noticeable spikes in volunteer interest and monetary donations.
